Storks, cranes and many others
The surrounding area is inhabited by numerous bird species – storks, black storks, cranes, owls and eagles.
In the Siedlisko Sobibór we have storks in spring and summer. In our woodland a wryneck, a rare species of woodpecker, can be found.
The village of Sobibór used to be famous for a large number of owls. The legend says the name of the village was once “Owlforest”.
Today ornithologists from Europe and Poland come to Sobibór region in search of a great grey owl.
